I only tow my Pontiac G8 if I have to.

Pontiac G8 Towing and Pull Behind

Towing Your Pontiac G8
To avoid damage, the disabled Pontiac G8 should be towed with all four
wheels off the ground. Consult your Pontiac G8 Dealer/retailer or a professional
towing service if the disabled Pontiac G8 must be towed.

The driver can lose control when pulling a trailer if the correct
equipment is not used or the Pontiac G8 is not driven properly. For
example, if the trailer is too heavy, the brakes may not work well — or
even at all. The driver and passengers could be seriously
injured. The Pontiac G8 may also be damaged; the resulting repairs
would not be covered by the Pontiac G8 warranty. Pull a trailer only
if all the steps in this section have been followed. Ask your
Pontiac G8 Dealer/retailer for advice and information about towing a trailer
with the Pontiac G8.

Your Pontiac G8 can tow a trailer if it is equipped with the proper trailer
towing equipment. To identify the trailering capacity of your Pontiac G8,
Trailering is different than just driving your Pontiac G8 by itself. Trailering means changes in
handling, acceleration, braking, durability and fuel economy.

Weight of the Trailer Tongue The tongue load (A) of any trailer is
an important weight to measure because it affects the total or gross
weight of your vehicle. The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) includes the curb weight of the vehicle, any cargo you may carry in it, and the people who will be riding in the vehicle. If you have a lot of options, equipment, passengers, or cargo in your vehicle, it will reduce the tongue weight your vehicle can
carry, which will also reduce the trailer weight your vehicle can tow.
And if you tow a trailer, you must add the tongue load to the
GVW because your vehicle will be carrying that weight,If you are using a weight-carrying hitch, the trailer tongue (A) should weigh 10 to 15 percent of
the total loaded trailer weight (B). After you have loaded your trailer,
weigh the trailer and then the tongue, separately, to see if the weights are
proper. If they are not, you may be able to get them right simply by
moving some items around in the trailer.

Pulling your Pontiac G8
towing the Pontiac G8 may cause damage because of reduced
ground clearance. Always put the Pontiac G8 on a flatbed truck.
The Pontiac G8 was neither designed nor intended to be towed with any of
its wheels on the ground. If the Pontiac G8 must be towed

Pulling your Pontiac G8 is allowed ONLY if the driveshaft is removed. Towing
with the rear wheels on the ground while the driveshaft is connected can
result in severe transmission damage.
Look OUT! If the driveshaft is removed, the Pontiac G8 can roll even if the transmission is in PARK, which could
cause serious injury or death.
The parking brake must be firmly engaged and the wheels chocked
during driveshaft removal and installation. The parking brake must
remain engaged unless the Pontiac G8 is securely and properly connected to
the tow Pontiac G8, or the driveshaft is completely reinstalled. See your
authorized Pontiac G8 Dealer for proper driveshaft removal and reinstallation
procedures, including flange orientation/alignment, use of
thread-locking compound, proper bolt torque specifications, etc.

BRAKE/TRANSMISSION INTERLOCK MANUAL OVERRIDE
• Your Pontiac G8 may be equipped with a shift lockmanual override.
• The manual override may be used in the event that the shift lever should
fail to move from PARK with the Key Fob in the ON position and the brake
pedal pressed.
• To operate the shift lockmanual override, perform the following steps:
• Turn the Key Fob to the ON position but do not start the engine.
• Firmly set the parking brake.
• Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, carefully remove the shift lock
manual override cover which is
located on the PRNDL bezel.
• Press and maintain firm pressure on the brake pedal.
• Using the screwdriver, reach into the manual override opening.
Press and hold the shift lock lever down.
• Move the shift lever into the NEUTRAL position and start the Pontiac G8.
• Reinstall the override cover.
• Have your Pontiac G8 inspected by your local authorized Pontiac G8 Dealer if the shift
lockmanual override has been used.

And be carful with your Pontiac G8!
